uMkhanyakude (KZN)

The Trust’s work in the uMkhanyakude dates back to 2001, when work started on the Usuthu Gorge Community Conservation Area. Since then the range of initiatives has expanded significantly to include:
- Trees for Life project nodes in Khula Village, Zwenelisha, KwaJobe and KwaTembe
- The Khula Carbon Farmer partnership
- The Mkhuze Floodplain restoration project and associated Carbon Farmer project
- The Khula Village Cultural Heritage and Responsible Tourism project
- The Usuthu Gorge Community Conservation Area project
- The Tshanini/Bhekula Community Conservation Area project
- One Wild Series event, the Maputaland Challenge.

The Trust’s activities provided income and livelihood support for 821 local community members, including 14 full-time green-preneur facilitators, 9 tree-custodians, 24 natural resource custodians and 774 tree-preneurs.
