Donors

BHP Billiton fund Green Teams in the Dube and eSikhawini communities and are supporting the development of an Indigenous Trees for Life node in Ongoye Forest to facillitate the establishment of a credible carbon sink through the restoration ofdegraded areas of the forest. Dube TradePort has recently made a two year commitment to funding the greening the Waterloo community outside Umhlanga.  The Dube TradePort is set to be operational by 2010 and will comprise of a modern new international passenger and cargo airport facility; a trade zone; a support zone; an agri-zone; and a cyber port.

Wildlands is working with eThekwini Municipality’s dedicated Environmental Management Department on the Buffelsdraai Community Reforestation Project for which we are the implementing partner. eThekwini have also funded an educational theatre production by Ellis Pearson to illustrate the potential effects of climate change, the importance of biodiversity and the contribution of the Indigenous Trees for Life programme within these spheres.  The production will be launched at the 2009 Art for Conservation function.

The Foschini Group have donated truck-loads of clothing and accessories to the Indigenous Trees for Life Tree Stoes, helping to keep our Tree-preneurs looking their best and clothing their families.  The Foschini Group consists of 13 trading divisions, dealing in lifestyle products that range from fashion, to sporting apparel to home ware.

Investec Private Bank have been hugely supportive of our projects and events for a number of years.  The organisation, along with Unilever, funded the first Indigenous Trees for Life programmes four years ago, and today fund Tree-preneurs in the Mnqobokazi community.  They are also the main sponsors of our Annual Art for Conservation event. Mercedes-Benz South Africa (previously DaimlerChrysler) have been supporters of the Trust for a number of years, starting with the Khula Information Office in St Lucia.  Mercedes-Benz South Africa manufactures Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi vehicles and finances the Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Maybach, Mitsubishi Motors, Freightliner, Western Star and FUSO brands.

The Mr Price Group have supported the Trusts Indigenous Trees for Life Programme since 1997 by donating truckloads of clothes for barter with the tree-preneurs.  The retail group manage 900 stores in South Africa and Africa including Mr Price, Mr Price Sport, Mr Price Home, Miladys and Sheet Street.

Old Mutual have been making annual donations to the Trust since 1991, currently fund an Indigenous Trees for Life node in Mzimela and have recently committed to funding one of the first Indigenous Trees for Life nodes outside the province in Nelspruit.  Old Mutual have also been long time supporters of some of our sporting events.  Old Mutual is South Africa's largest financial services institution.

Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) has supported a number of Guide Training Learnership Programmes and now fund three Indigenous Trees for Life nodes in the Dube, eSikhawini and Obangeni communities.  RBCT is the largest single export coal terminal in the world.

Richards Bay Mineral (RMB) has been supporting the Trust since 1991.  The organisation contributed to various projects including the ICC Rhino and the debelopment of the Centenary Centre in iMfolozi Game Reserve.  PBM no supports Indigenous Trees for Life Tree-preneurs and Green Teams in the Sokhulu and Mbonambi communities outside Richards Bay.  RBM is a leading producer of titania slag, highpurity pig iron, rutile and zircon.

Sappi
have been supporters of the Trust since 1993 and this year agreed to purchase 10 000 indigenous trees (grown by the Indigenous Trees for Life Tree-preneurs) for their Sandisa Imvelo “Growing Nature” Programme.  Sappi are the world's leading producer of coated fine paper and chemical cellulose and producers of Sappi Triple Green which is paper manufactured in a manner that preserves our planet’s natural resources and protects the environment from harmful pollution.

Tongaat Hulett Developments (previously Moreland) have funded the Waterloo Tree-preneurs since 2005 and now fund a second Indigenous Trees for Life nod ein Ndwedwe.  The organisation supports two Green Teams in the same communities.  Tongaat Hulett Developments are a well-known land management and property development company.

Unilever
has been a long-time supporter of the Trust and supported the first Indigenous Trees for Life programme four years ago.  Unilever continues to sponsor Indigenous Trees for Life with funding and in-kind donations of their products for our Tree Stores, and instigated the programmes expansion outside KwaZulu-Natal earlier this year.  Unilever also fund quarterly volunteer weekend for their staff to help out with some of our projetcs.  Unilever are manufactureres of leading brands of foods, home and personal care products.

The Witness
has been making annual contributions to the Trust since 1995.  Over and above these annual donations, the newspaper also supports an Indigenous Trees for Life node in the Table Mountain community outside Pietermaritzburg.  They have supported us with numerous in-kind donations in the form of media for our events, and features our project developments in the Weekend Witness on their bi-monthly 'Witness the Wild' page.  The Witness is part of the Media 24 Group and is linked with other publications including The Mirror and Echo.

Umfulana is a tourism company which specialises in tailor-made tours to Southern Africa and many other destinations in the world. Umfulana has donated funds to Wildlands for the planting and care of trees in the Mkhuze Riverine Forest Carbon Sink initiative. This donation is part of Umfulana’s commitment to offsetting some of the emissions produced by their clients when flying to Southern Africa and other destinations around the world. Clients are given the option, when booking their tour, to pay a voluntary carbon offsetting fee, which Umfulana gives to Wildlands to implement.
