Bonitas Sunday Tribune Mont-Aux-Sources Challenge
2012-09-08 - 2012-09-08
This high altitude trail run takes place at Royal Natal National Park in the Northern Drakensberg and borders Lesotho.
Entries are limited to 250 entrants for this one day, 50km trail run.
Participants will run 50km with the start and finish at Royal Natal National Park which sits at 1300m. This challenge will see the runner’s summit at 3100m and has an overall ascent and descent of 1800m.
The route will see runners run mountain passes, steep gullies, along single track mountainous paths and climb the famous chain ladders set on a shear basalt rock face of the Amphitheatre. Once you have achieved the daunting task of the chain ladders, the sweeping views make it all worthwhile. The breathtaking, magnificent views and the fresh mountain air will give you the sense of running on top of the world.
Once you have completed the loop in on top and descended the chain ladders, it’s all downhill to the finish but not before you tackling the Sentinel Gully.
