Adapting to change

Weather is a key factor in agricultural productivity. Changes in weather can affect rainfall and temperature and this in turn can affect soil properties, increase in insect pests and, crop yields. Southern Africa could lose more than 30% of its maize crop by 2030 due to climate change. Climatic changes could also result in farmers having to change their main crop to a crop more suitable for the new conditions
